How Rude

I talk to people who know more or less what I know, and who don’t bloody care if I say things nicely or not. I hate the idea that my career is riding on my ability to be someone else’s idea of polite.

No Worries

My worries will come or not come.  If they do come, I will be there to greet my woes when they arrive, but not a moment before.

I’ve never understood why Mother Nature was so clueless with regard to my moods. Women were supposed to have excellent intuition after all. Then again I had long suspected Mother Nature was a bitch by choice.

When changing  the cat boxes, if you leave the room to find a scoop to fill the boxes, don’t leave the top of the litter container open.  To the cats, it’s litter and it’s in a box, so it’s fair game.  <sigh>

Accidentally in Trouble

Little Bit didn’t get a sticker at school yesterday.   This basically means she got in trouble yesterday.  The reason?  She told me she accidentally drank another girl’s drink.  Sounds ligit right?  Wrong!

This past weekend I bought her a small toy to reward her when she next got three stickers in a row.  I put the toy on the kitchen counter.  She asked if she could have it and I told her no.  Later that same day I found the packaging on the end table and the toy on the living room floor.  I asked her why she opened the toy.  Guess what she told me?

 It was an accident.

Our program de’jour via Netflix is Warehouse 13.  In Season 3 they introduced a new character Steven Jinks that is a Buddhist.  In the episode “The New Guy” Pete is trying to get his head around the concept:

Pete: Okay, so wait, what did the Buddha say about happiness again?
Jinks: That the secret is to want what you have and not what you don’t have.
Pete: Yeah, but if I had what I wanted, there’d be nothing to do.
Jinks: This is gonna be a longer discussion, I think.

One From the Heart

I was driving to work this morning in a bit of a melancholy mood.  I was enjoying my tunage via Pandora when this song stopped me cold:

“I Just Love You” – Five for Fighting

Lonely, yeah that’s the word
I leave my heart when I leave her
The days go on forever and the nights do too

One evening out on the road
A half a world away from home
I thought she was sleeping
When the call came through

I said, Darling, it’s late, is everything ok
Silence took over the room
Til she said

I… I just Love You
I Don’t Know Why, I Just Do
When are you coming home
I’m coming home soon
And I just love you too

Lonely lets me be
For a while she sets me free
I close my eyes and I dream of her

She’s lost in my arms
Her head on my heart
And softly she whispers the words

I…I just Love You
I Don’t Know Why, I Just Do
When are you coming home
I’m coming home soon
And I just love you too

I’ll never stop being amazed
How my 4-year old girl knows exactly what to say

I, I just Love You
I Don’t Know Why, I Just Do
When are you coming home
I’m coming home soon
Cause I just love you too

The Great Wave off Kanagawa by the Japanese artist Hokusai.

I have always loved this piece of art.  The sheer power of nature is captured so expertly.  This is what came to mind this morning when I looked at my To Do list.  Unfortunately I was mount Fuji and my To Do list was the wave.  I generally am a glass half full kinda girl.  But, I am stuggling to find the beauty in this particular wave.

The Choices We Make

“I once thought that suffering made us stronger, but it is not so.  Suffering eats away at us.  Some people become obsessed by it, believing pain produced their strength.  But it does not.  It is only determination, despite our pain that makes us stronger, victory despite obstacles, not because of them.  That is why I will not tell you the loss of Kali will make you stronger.  It may, but is may not.  In reality, the choice is yours.”
